Jennifer's mom grew up in an orphanage in Philadelphia after losing her parents, and was released into the world in the sixties. She found herself single and pregnant and had to relinquish her first child, Jennifer's brother, for adoption. Jennifer calls it the secret history of adoption. There was no sex education, no contraception, and a belief that you could not be single and raise your child. Millions of women went through it, many of them in their twenties, like her mom. From my conversation with Jennifer Griffith.
