Jennifer's dad wanted to leave when she was 13. He did not leave until she was 18. Five years of a very miserable man living a different life inside the house, and a kid who was acutely aware of it even though nobody talked about it. She says a lot of people stay together for the optics, and it is not good for anybody. This is a big part of her book, Both Sides of Then. From my conversation with Jennifer Griffith.
