When Ricardo was ten years old, his mom dropped him and his brother at the bowling alley and told them she would be right back. She never came back. That moment shaped everything about the way he saw life from then on.

What struck me is how openly he allowed himself to talk about it as a child. That choice changed the way he carried grief. It also gave him a perspective that continues to guide him to this day.
